Duck Calls Guide
Duck Calls: Quacks, Chuckles & Comebacks
Finish more ducks with four sounds: basic quack, greeting call, feeding chuckle, and comeback. Hear each one in Hunting Calls Pro and learn exactly when to use it.
Sounds included in the app
- Mallard quack — clean 3–5 note hen quacks
- Greeting call — 5–7 notes for distant birds
- Feeding chuckle — fast relaxed feeding notes
- Comeback call — loud call for passing flocks
When to call, when to shut up
- Far birds: loud greeting + comeback. Get their attention.
- Working birds: soft quacks + chuckle. Sound relaxed.
- Cupped wings: silence. Let them land.
- Windy days: call louder and more often. Calm days: less is more.
Beginner drill (5 minutes a day)
- Play a single quack in the app, pause, then mimic the rhythm.
- Chain 3 quacks: qua-qua-qua, with the last note dropping.
- Add a chuckle only after your quack sounds clean.
- Use loop mode in the field to keep hands on your gun.
What is the easiest duck call?
Single quack. Nail that before greeting calls or chuckles.
When do you stop calling?
When birds commit. Quiet guns kill more ducks than loud calls.
Do duck calls scare ducks?
Bad timing does. Overcalling on calm days flares birds — match the app audio.
